THE

AARGH! FEDERATION

WEBSITE

(or Another Awful Result from the Gods of Hattrick)

What the AARGH! is all that then?

Hattrick is an online football (sigh, soccer) game which, if you have reached this website you should already know about, but in case you don't, have a look at www.hattrick.org to get an idea. We here at AARGH! think it's the greatest thing in the world, but in equal proportion the most frustrating thing in the world at times, hence this federation. The conference boards are highly entertaining sometimes, but many Hattrickers get annoyed by 'whiners'-people who start threads with titles like 'WHY?', and 'How did I lose?' and my all time favourite 'I HATE THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THIS GAME!'. In a nutshell these people have had an AARGH! moment-they lost a crucial match, their star player was injured or sent off, or, on occasion, the server has gone down causing them to either miss out on a transfer or lose money on a sale. So they go onto either their National conference or the Global one and let off steam, only to get pilloried , ridiculed or insulted by some of the other people there, when what they really want is for someone to say that they understand, it's happened to them or offer something constructive; in short, to make them feel better!

So why a website then?

Two reasons; firstly , over time we intend to log and list the most common problems and gripes and offer easy tips and solutions to avoid them where possible. Second, we will analyse these problems to see if they indicate that some changes are needed in the game itself, and if so we will get the opinion of as many Hattrickers on our suggestions (by having polls in the AARGH! conference & posting in other conferences to generate debate) and then present the ideas to the game developers when appropriate. Of course this doesn't guarantee the changes will be made but if you don't ask you don't get! The website will display these suggestions as well, so that people with 'new' ideas can look here first to see if someone has already thought of it. We have also included a Newbies guide, gathered from the collective knowledge of experienced players, which will grow over time. It is impossible and undesirable to say 'This is how you should play' because there are many different approaches, but we can say what is and isn't advisable for new players on certain issues. With any luck this might help to stem the tide of 'Clown' and 'Daytrading' questions in the Newbie and Global conferences as well! If you want to contribute, suggest or criticise please click the 'Contact Us' link. We welcome all communication whether you are a member of the federation or not.

Many thanks to our host
